Adding machines to ganglia

The ganglia system contains two parts, gmetad and ganglia-monitor. Since our machines are on three different subnets (130.191.27.*; 130.191.28.*; and 192.168.*.*) we are using unicast monitoring. The multicast was too complex. Basically for a new machine copy the gmond.conf file over and start ganglia monitor.

You should point the gmond.conf to send to port 8649 on edwards.sdsu.edu. It doesn’t matter which IP, and since that machine is multihomed you can use 192.* for those machines and 130.* for others. See the example /etc/ganglia/gmond.conf files on rambox or goldeneye for appropriate configurations.
